this is what devendra banhart would create if he was reborn in kashmir to expatriate parents from los angeles. it’s dark, deep, heavy, but something about it still reminds me of old-school cartoons. that gaslamp killer is pretty out there but he’s really done his homework when it comes to one-upping the madlib beat konducta 3-4/in india album. his super grimy approach to that part of the world’s catalog blends satisfyingly with his appreciation for 60’s psychedelia.
