last night’s show was pretty spectacular — eliot lipp is an absolute monster, switching genres with uncommon expertise, robot koch threw down some devastatingly heavy 16-bit beats, lo-phi won the producer invitational and displayed more versatility than houston’s beat scene is typically known for, and the big surprise of the night….b. bravo & starship connection were INSANE. an arsenal of keyboards, samplers, and live bass, with electronic drums and masterful use of the a dual talkbox setup. they were dreadfully funky, presented some detailed and complex tracks that developed impressively over long periods of time, and utilized an engaging combination of organic and artificial bass tones. real futuristic project, sort of like pnuma trio without the drum n bass-inclined drum set in the mix, and a group whose ep i’m now eagerly anticipating. i’ll post some videos soon.

and bike rentals are going pretty damn well too. so much energy downtown right now, and i’m thrilled that it’s only tuesday.
