eversive, aka producer chris medders from corpus christi, tx, is a talented beatmaker currently residing in austin. this is part of his set from wednesday’s dibiase show, where he performed a bunch of funk-tinged psychedelic beats. ‘how many of y’all like that spacey shit,’ he asked. eversive played a set almost entirely consisting of originals, showcasing his self-proclaimed cosmic philosophy conveyed through a medium of head-noddingly soulful instrumentals. no vocals, rap verses, cheesy radio jam demagoguery, or needless fancy stuff here, just an alternative take on hip-hop production to blissfully zone out to. you can hear the levels kick up at :52 (switching from the dj mixer to the house mixer), a perceptible and supremely worthwhile difference, and the dude next to me (a producer himself) yell with approval and enthusiastically discuss the jump in fidelity he’d apparently been waiting for. check out his album the sole glow for more of that spacey shit you and i love so very much.
