i’ve found this song to be positively irresistible since the first time i heard it, from the instant that the dissonant hit at 1:07 blew me out of the seat of my friend’s car. i saw them twice on the sunday of bonnaroo, only two hours apart, and thoroughly enjoyed both performances. seeing them once again tonight, at the parish in downtown austin, once i’m done watching game 4 of the heat/thunder series.
i actually missed their performance of this song at bonnaroo, because i got there after a few minutes of recovery from gary clark jr.’s scathing guitar-based assault on my senses. thanks to our current place within the information age though, here’s a video of this tune from the very performance i’ve been referring to. i’m not sure if i was visible in any of their other bonnaroo videos….if so, i was probably dancing with a trippy brown and green shawl hanging on my shoulder, and a earth-toned hendrix-style headband sort of thing tied around my head, somewhere in the middle of a bunch of people moving around way less than i was. don’t stress yourself out about it though. but do keep an eye out for these guys, on stage or otherwise, because they’ve been up to some really interesting and dynamic stuff lately.
