delicate steve - don’t get stuck (proud elephants)
this bluesy instrumental would gleam triumphantly with an air of nobility if it wasn’t so damned rootsy, with metallic guitar tones soaring above all else and the solemn stomp of percussion guiding them along. somehow this traverses the seemingly enormous chasm between ratatat and soulful americana with admirable balance. delicate steve (aka steve marion, a 23 year old kid from new jersey) is a bit of an enigma, at least from a PR standpoint, as referenced in this ’everything you know about delicate steve is wrong’ NPR article. the cartoon is a welcomed addition to this stirring piece of music.
