milezo - kid chants (corduroi remix)
a lovely piece of transcendental electronica from one of austin’s more exemplary beat curators, cody wilson/corduroi. it superbly fuses the organic elements with digitized ones, showcasing a precious violin melody, sonorous bass accompaniment, swaths of found sounds, swelling electronic piano, and subtly tight drum beats, within its diverse stages of evolution. apparently some of the tones borrowed from the original include noises recorded in a swedish hospital. the balance of earnest sentimentality with a esteemed sense of dignity and self-sufficient grooviness is key. by the time it wraps up, it sounds entirely removed from its origins, but the resolution actually bears a fair resemblance to the introductory theme. i will mention that the final vocal murmurs sound like a serial killer singing gently to himself while cleaning his house, but you don’t necessarily need to allow me to plant that image in your head beyond this sentence.
