marble - l.l. (b. lewis remix)

demented synth tones wielded with the sort of borderline-reckless fury that drives live audiences wild; the vocals repossessed from the original might sound somewhat like jeff buckley, but that thought is rendered irrelevant once b. lewis chops them into a siren-like rhythmic device to accompany his whiplash-inducing digital orchestra. i consider him one of my favorite musicians that i’ve discovered from this site, when his album science within reason was floating around and luckily landed within my auditory grasp. i’ve seen him in town twice, and also witnessed him and boom baptist sharing in the omnipresent awe that left everyone in earshot hypnotized during thundercat’s set, the saturday night of sxsw. speaking of which, here’s a video he made of his time at the fest last year, from march ‘11. according to this post of mine, i discovered his music a bit after that year’s festival was over with, so that’d be around a month after i moved here (which explains why his music is among that which most prominently reminds me of the city).

he’s playing in austin tomorrow along with gonjasufi and a bushel of austin’s premier loopcrafters, including corduroi, who i posted about yesterday. that should be a mesmerizing night, and it’ll be followed by absolute madness on friday, when opiuo, vibesquad, and tipper come to town.
