this soulful head-nodder most definitely won’t be the only thing i post by b.lewis, because ever since i happened upon this track via the fantastic bisconostalgia site hyperlinked above, i’ve discovered his albums through bandcamp and have been nothing short of wholeheartedly impressed by his beats. the first lp on the site, science within reason, is so enjoyable that i haven’t even had the ambition to check out the other material. the same thing happened when i found grimace federation’s tasted by chemists album on there, which is such an incredible collection of music, i’m currently realizing it’s absolutely ridiculous that i’ve forgotten to share it with all of you wonderful readers. it’s also a bit funny that those two album titles are so similar. but anyway, grimfed will have their time, i’m just trying to write about b.lewis right now…..brad lewis is a producer from san jose who’s only been making beats for a few years. he apparently played in town a bunch of times for sxsw, but once again, i discovered his music a week or two too late. (here’s a video of his sxsw ‘11 memoirs). according to his twitter, which i checked out in hopes of learning more about him, he’s recently linked up with dibia$e and devonwho, both of whom would be ideal artists to align his career alongside. b.lewis fits right in with the california movement of futuristic bass music, and based only off of the recently finished science within reason(beats so nice i hyperlinked them twice), and presumably la semaine, when i finally get around to listening to that one, he’ll be getting his due attention in the very near future.
