NOM NOM NOM…..the DRUMS, man, the DRUMS. minneapolis’s finest…..these guys are absolute beasts, especially in a live setting; ethan iverson on the keys, reid anderson on the bass, and david fucking king on the kit. even local demi-god-of-sorts joe mauer couldn’t do a better job of deconstructing this beat and making it infinitely more badass the way king does. the thoroughly abrasive and choppy way that he goes about establishing his rhythms is akin to a chef taking a choice cut of kobe beef away from a table, assaulting it in the kitchen with a food processor, scissors, sledgehammer, and a chainsaw, and then returning with a dish mysteriously far more delicious and exquisitely arranged than previously thought possible.
